The course covers the period from 1066: "The Norman Conquest", to King John and Magna Carta.
We will each month be looking at important events during this period, such as:
- The Bayeux Tapestry
- The Doomsday Book
- Henry 2nd and Thomas Becket
- Architectural Legacy
- Castles Churches and Local History
- Magna Carta - what did it mean then and now?
Without going into too much detail, that’s it, but this is the birth of England as an emerging powerful European State and the most powerful and successful ruling dynasty this country has had: The Plantagenets.
Some sessions may spread over more than one monthly meeting, as input from members is always welcome.
The group welcomes new members, to join please email the Group Coordinator "shepwaygroups@gmail.com" or ask at a coffee morning in Folkestone or Hythe..
