Our group explores humanity's shared journey through science, philosophy, and spirituality, examining world history and ideas within the vast story of the universe. We take a 'big history' approach that includes physical, biological, and cultural evolution, seeking to understand how events, ideas, and individuals have shaped—and continue to shape—our world.
By studying diverse perspectives, we aim to deepen our appreciation for life’s interconnectedness and complexity. Members can expect thought-provoking discussions that bridge different fields, providing a richer sense of connection to the world and insights into our place within it.
We are currently working our way through Season 2 of discussion topics. You can see a complete list by clicking on the "Course Details" link below,
There will be no meeting in April, so our next meeting will occur as usual in the Tin Tabernacle at 2:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month, 21st May. This will be the first of three sessions delving into the history of science and what it means for our understanding of ourselves and the Universe of which we are a part. May’s meeting will be concerned with the development of science up to 1900 or so – the age of Classical Mechanics.
